2024 Emerging Artist Prize

The Macquarie Group Collection has been supporting emerging Australian artists for more than thirty-five years. The Collection's annual Emerging Artist Prize offers support to a new generation of Australian visual artists by inviting them to enter one original work that reflects the Collection’s theme, The Land and Its Psyche.

This exhibition will be open from the 20 September 2024 - 10 January 2025.

About

The Art Space supports emerging Australian artists and new knowledge around contemporary Australian art. Located on Level 2 of 1 Elizabeth, the gallery stages exhibitions and events organised by the Macquarie Group Collection, Macquarie businesses, and external stakeholders such as artists, curators and not for profit organisations.

The Macquarie Group Collection is committed to supporting the practice and early careers of Australian visual artists. As part of the Macquarie Group Foundation, The Art Space aligns with the Foundation’s philanthropic mission, and provides a platform for emerging artists for the exhibition of their work, public programming, attraction of new audiences and economic support through sales of their art.

The Art Space is a small scale and accessible cultural venue for public art exhibitions, attracting large and diverse audiences. It complements major, well-established exhibition spaces in the immediate vicinity such as the Art Gallery of NSW, Museum of Contemporary Art Australia, Museum of Sydney, State Library and Hyde Park Barracks.

Commencing in 2024, The Art Space will present a curated program of Australian art exhibitions, with a focus on the work of emerging Australian artists. There will also be exhibitions of historical art and design of relevance to the immediate precinct, and the much-anticipated annual Macquarie Emerging Artists Prize. Exhibitions are augmented by artist and curator talks, screenings and seminars.

The gallery opening hours:

10am-5pm Monday to Friday,

Entry is free of charge.
